Legal delivery of data to the emergency call database

Tasked to Swisscom Directories AG

Swisscom Directories AG has been operating the Swiss emergency call database for all emergency services (the police, fire brigade, paramedics, air-rescue services, etc.) on behalf of universal service licensee Swisscom (Schweiz) AG since 2004.

Statutory obligation

The emergency call database enables the emergency services to use a single platform to reliably pinpoint the location of emergency calls from all telephony networks (landlines, mobile networks, VoIP) and meets all of OFCOM’s technical requirements (see TAV SR 784.101.113/1.3 – latest version can always be found at www.bakom.admin.ch). All registered telecommunications service providers, VoIP service providers and VoIP telephone service providers are required to ensure the ability to pinpoint the location of emergency calls in accordance with Art. 27 et seq. of the Swiss Ordinance on Telecommunications Services (OTS; SR 784.101.1).

Our solution for delivering your data

We carefully prepare your data and enter it into the emergency call database. This data is only accessible to the emergency services. As the operator of the emergency call database, we ensure that your data is provided in compliance with the law and that it does not fall into the hands of any unauthorised persons.

We offer you a simple, standardised interface that is identical for all telecommunications service providers. You send your telephony customer data to your SFTP mailbox on a weekly basis for integration by us. A help desk in operation 24/7 has been set up to help you in the event of errors or technical issues.
